SCiES Business Support Assistant

Are you looking to broaden your experience in a dynamic, child-focused team? The SCiES (Safeguarding Children in Education Settings) team is offering an exciting secondment opportunity for a Business Support Assistant to join us in supporting safeguarding across Cheshire East’s education settings. The small team support Cheshire East schools and settings in their safeguarding duties through a service level agreement (SLA).

About the Role

As a Business Support Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the smooth running of the SCiES team, helping to ensure that safeguarding processes are efficient, responsive, and well-communicated. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines administrative, financial, and communication duties with opportunities to contribute to quality assurance and data management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality administrative support including inbox management, training and meeting coordination, minute-taking, and correspondence.
  • Act as a first point of contact for schools and services, responding to safeguarding-related enquiries or passing them on to the Safeguarding Officers in the team.
  • Manage sensitive notifications and multi-agency information requests (e.g. self-harm, domestic abuse, child exploitation).
  • Support the distribution of safeguarding policies, guides, audits, and service communications.
  • Assist with financial processes including ordering, invoicing, and SLA tracking.
  • Maintain recording systems (e.g. SharePoint, Excel) and produce performance reports.
  • Coordinate school staff development activities including training, supervision and reviews.
  • To carry out any reasonable duty as directed by managers of the service.

Who We’re Looking For

  • A proactive and organised individual with strong communication skills and experienced with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • An ability to have high degree of accuracy when inputting data and sharing safeguarding information.
  • The ability to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines.
  • Someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about safeguarding.
  • Experience in administrative or business support roles is essential; knowledge of safeguarding processes is desirable.
