As a Communications Officer, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating communication and engagement activities across various channels and for diverse audiences. You will create and commission a range of communication products (including videos, emails, photography, social and digital content, articles and features) and support us in telling the story of the council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans.
  • Create and deliver engaging content across multiple platforms.
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communication activities.
  • Support and deliver communication activities for programmes or associated projects.
  • Build strong relationships within the council’s communications team, its customers and with a range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Communicate change, employee engagement, and organisational culture change effectively.
  • Manage external relations and media when delivering your communication plans and activities.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Self-starter with a curious mindset and a commitment to personal development.
  • Team player who is dependable, enthusiastic, and innovative.
  • Proven track record of quality, creative, and effective communication work.
  • Excellent copywriting, creative, planning, and influencing skills.
  • Experience in delivering successful communications that support and drive understanding and adoption of change.
  • Ability to engage and influence a range of audiences through internal and external channels.
  • Experience in advising, influencing and challenging colleagues and service delivery partners at all levels on their communications objectives and requirements.
