This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to provide a variety of administrative support to a small professional Commercial Services Team, in its regulatory and advisory role specialising in Food Safety, Health & Safety and Caravan / Mobile Home Site Licensing. Being the first point of contact for businesses, sole traders and the general public, this role is key for the team to achieve a high level of customer service and fulfilling the standards of the Council’s Customer Experience Charter.

The Support Officer will be responsible for a varied caseload across the disciplines covered by the Commercial Services Team, including the administrative work associated with external contractors undertaking food hygiene inspections, processing food business registrations, monitoring and  allocation of incoming work, responding to queries and complaints, data inputting, updating Council webpages, supporting education and awareness campaigns (including food hygiene training), providing performance data where required, and carrying out questionnaires in relation to food poisoning and infectious diseases, as well as with low-risk food businesses.

As part of the wider Regulatory Services Department, the Commercial Services Team works closely with the Trading Standards, Licensing and Environmental Protection services helping with improved service delivery and providing personal development across a range of service areas.

Working as part of a busy team you will need to have a flexible approach to service delivery to meet your personal objectives and the performance standards of the wider team. You will require excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management and enjoy being part of a vibrant team.

ICT equipment is provided to allow for agile and flexible working for a combination of office and home working, as required. Cheshire East Council is committed to supporting a good work life balance and offers a flexi-time scheme with the potential to take up to 18 ‘flexi’ days leave per year and up to 31 days annual leave (pro rata as appropriate), as well as bank holidays. For the right applicant consideration can be given to part time working as well as full time.
