The role of a CCTV Operator with Cheshire East Council is an exciting, varied role. From monitoring the Town Centre CCTV Cameras across the borough keeping our towns and villages safe to taking the councils emergency out of hours calls, taking the calls for major incidents, monitoring lone worker alarms and more, the work is varied. The role is based within the Emergency Control Centre at Macclesfield; however, there may be a small requirement to travel. The service covers all aspects of emergency response and CCTV monitoring but is ever growing and taking on new services so the ability to adapt is essential.

The CCTV Team is looking for two enthusiastic and committed people to work as CCTV Operators in our Central CCTV and Emergency Control Centre based in Macclesfield Town Hall. You will be working as part of an emergency response team on a shift system, covering a 24hr period/7 days a week/365 days a year. You will need to have excellent observational and communication skills and the ability to work alone or as part of a team and multitask. Good IT skills and a confident telephone manner with problem solving skills are also essential. The role of CCTV Operator within the emergency control centre is varied and no two days are the same. Roles will include (but not limited to) CCTV monitoring of the borough, managing incidents, taking emergency out of hours calls, taking calls for Major Incidents, receiving lone worker alarms along with business CCTV / Alarms and include the preparation of CCTV Footage. The successful applicant must be prepared to attend court if and when required.

The successful candidate will be required to pass NPPV Level 2 (Full) Police Vetting which is renewed 3 yearly throughout your career. If at any time, your behaviour both at home (out of work) or within work, falls short of Police expectations and you lose your vetting status, your role can be terminated. 

The council will happily consider applicants who do not hold an SIA Licence in CCTV or CCTV experience; however, it is a requirement that you pass the SIA CCTV Licence course as early as possible once started, the offer will be removed if the licence process is for any reason not possible to complete. The course will be in Southampton for 4 days (expenses paid)

Salary £25,584 plus approx. 20% enhancement on top rising to £27,269 plus 20% enhancement.

Please note this is a shift-based role with a varied mixture of nights, days, weekends and bank holiday working
