The Vacancy
We are currently seeking to recruit a number of Bank Residential Childcare Workers who have the drive, determination, experience and tenacity to come on this exciting journey with us. We have several homes we are planning to open within the next 12months and therefore this is an opportunity to work alongside and be a part of the leadership team to shape the future of Cheshire East’s residential provision. You will be working in an environment where the things you do every day could have a life-changing impact on the children & young people in our care.
This role will involve shift work that will include days, evenings and overnight to meet the needs of the home and the children and young people living in it. You will be involved in supporting children and young people in all aspects of their life including, promoting their physical and emotional well-being, development, and daily routines such as school attendance, hobbies, attending appointments and maintaining links with family.
Extensive support will be offered from the Registered Manager, alongside Senior Residential Support staff in the home, and the Responsible Individual who will have experience of running Children’s Homes.

About you
Experience in working with children and young people in a residential setting who have suffered trauma would be extremely beneficial for this role. Our ideal candidate has an appetite and proven ability to contribute to positive and exceptional achieved outcomes; putting the welfare and happiness of our children at the forefront of everything we do. You will possess excellent communication skills have a positive attitude and a compassionate, empathetic and caring manner.
You will also have a strong focus on values, outcomes for children and excellence supported by the Local Authority who will also take a personal interest in your performance, development and your wellbeing. The role
The role of a Residential Childcare Worker will involve providing day-to-day care to our children and young people within a stable, safe, and nurturing environment. You will build positive relationships with each child and young person in order to meet their various needs, taking responsibility as a keyworker.
You will support the Registered Homes Manager and Senior Residential Support Workers to ensure we meet the Statement of Purpose, with particular emphasis on providing a person-centred therapeutic service, through delivering high quality childcare to our children and young people.
£15.84 per hour - £17.29 per hour plus sleep in allowance.
The Core Responsibilities will be:
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Working in accordance with children’s and young people’s care plans and risk assessments and contributing to their review.
- Forming effective relationships with children and young people, their families (if appropriate) and external agencies.
- To ensure the home is kept clean and in a tidy condition, adhere to the cleaning rota system, encouraging the children and young people to participate as appropriate.
- To ensure that good quality records are maintained as required with supervision and advice from Senior Residential Support Workers and Managers.
- To maintain and promote residential childcare to high levels of professionalism expected by Cheshire East Council and Ofsted.
- To contribute to the educational and social development of each child and young person and assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans.
- To meet the emotional and physical needs of our children and young people and maximize opportunities for their development.
Essential Qualifications and experience:
- L3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce (desirable) or relevant Degree
- Experience in a children's home setting (highly desirable), but not necessary.
- Excellent I.T skills, including report writing.
- Excellent knowledge of the Children’s Home (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards within it
- Flexibility to work 24 hour shift patterns (including sleep-in) – potentially at short notice.
- All candidates must be over the age of 21 to meet industry regulations.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- L3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce
- Experience of PACE model
- Team Teach trained
