Assistant Educational Psychologist
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cheshire East Educational Psychology Service. This is a 2-year fixed term post with career progression opportunities available, with the aim of training as Educational Psychologists within our team. This is a full-time position, 37 hour per week, Monday to Friday.
All applicants for this post are required to hold a Psychology degree that confers with Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.
This post has arisen to support the Cheshire East Educational Psychology Service to deliver and embed their work across the borough. The opportunity within our team will support those who have aspirations to train as educational psychologists.
The successful candidate will gain substantial experience that will support their application for professional post-graduate training as an educational psychologist.

Our service is well regarded and fully committed to the development and application of models of psychology that bring about positive change for children, families, and communities. The Local Authority is committed to the graduated response in the context of the SEND Code of Practice and the Educational Psychology Team has been identified as having a significant role to play in the development and delivery of planning, interventions, and review to support schools and settings in this respect. Your role as an Assistant Educational Psychologist would support its implementation.
The Assistant Educational Psychologist will: -
- Support the promotion of child development and learning through the application of psychology.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Educational Psychology Service to schools, academies, educational and other settings, specialist placements, children and young people, their parents/carers and other service users.
- Support the delivery of interventions planned by the link Educational Psychologists
- Contribute to meetings, ongoing assessment, planning and review, in line with Cheshire East policies, procedures, and legislation, including the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0 to 25 years.
- Contribute to the development of the Educational Psychology Service and wider SEND developments in Cheshire East by engaging in research-based information gathering
